Bachelor of Theology

OVERVIEW

The Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) is an undergraduate degree in theology. The program is ideal for students preparing to work in pastoral ministry, sacramental preparation, catechesis, social justice work, youth work and health care ministry, although some of these areas will need further formal training.

The Bachelor of Theology degree is not intended to prepare persons for ordained ministry. As well, it is not intended to be an undergraduate Arts degree with a major in theology. It is a specialized degree in theology and religious sciences

The course duration is 2 years with a prior diploma (over 2.5 GPA- and transfferable credit hours)

Course Goal

The course is intended to give students a basic understanding of theology and religious sciences and provide a foundation for pastoral leadership.

Course Objective

In addition to meeting the learning objectives required for all objectives required for all programs, the Bachelor of Theology will enable graduates to:

  • Know the contents and methods of understanding the Bible and theology in its original language.
  • Interpret the Bible using sound exegetical, hermeneutical, and theological methods in its original language.
  • Evaluate differing biblical, theological, cultural, and historical views at an
    advanced level.
  • Formulate a Christian worldview demonstrated in life and ministry at an advanced level.
  • Appraise and exhibit sensitivity to the global community in biblical and theological dialogue at an advanced level.
  • Apply the Bible in teaching and preaching to specific issues in various contexts in its original language.
  • Display a commitment to grow biblically and theologically.

The Bachelor in Theology Certificate provides you with the 120 credit hours. This will include eight courses in General Education (24 credits) 30 courses in Theology (90Credits) and 2 electives (6 credit). All Courses (120 Credits) must be completed to graduate

DESCRIPTION OF CERTIFICATE COURSES

  • Acts:

    The course helps the students understand the author,theme,lessons,birth of the
    church all in the book of acts

  • Blood covenant:

    Students will have the opportunity to learn on blood and covenants from the bible perspectives. Covenant as a contact is viewed from God`s perspective.

  • New testament church history:

    The course is designed as a broad overview of church history in the new testament, detailing the circumstances that led to church growth.

  • Romans 1:

    This course explores the book of romans, highlights on authorship and
    justification.

  • Spiritual warfare 1:

    The course focuses on the nature of warfare ,what spiritual warfare is, why warfare, leadership and warfare.

  • Bible prophecy:

    This course will introduce you to understanding of bible prophecy, how to identify and co-work with the same.

  •  Homiletics:

    This course seeks to answer questions on what homiletics is, what are ingredients and effective homiletics. Students will understand tools in homiletics.

  • Romans 2:

    This course gives an in-depth understanding on the theology of romans and their implications.

  • Old testament poetry:

    This course is an introduction poetry, significance of poetry and their applications in ministry.

  • Introduction to Christian education:

    Study helps the students on the skills and styles in teaching. Learning styles and effective Christian systems.

  • Pauline epistles:

    This course is an introduction to the background, content, literary qualities and message of the Pauline epistles.

  • Systematic theology 3:

    The course is aimed at helping the students understand the sacred doctrines and their impact in life and ministry.

  • Ephesians:

    The course is aimed at helping the student understand the Ephesian letter, authorship, setting, theme and applicational message.

  • Hebrews:

    This course is aimed at helping the students to interact with the book of Hebrew, identify the theme book, and follow God’s redemptive plan as it unfolds in the book. 

  • Ethics and excellence:

    This is a course aimed at helping the student understand what is ethical life. Students will understand on what the scriptures require on excellency.

  • Prayer2:

    The student will be taken through the major bible teachings on prayer and practical indicators of effective prayers.

  • Systematic theology 4:

    This course offers a deeper understanding on biblical teachings that results to transformed life

  •  Working of five fold ministry:

    The course explains five fold ministry, their effectiveness, their effects and how to operate with the same.

  • Comparative religion:

    The course is aimed at at exposing other religions to understand them, belief systems, salvation in each religion and how to lead to salvation people of other religions.

  •  Christ the healer:

    The course is aimed at helping the student to understand the attributes of jesus, understand biblical healing, how to heal, why jesus healed.

  •  Old testament iv-major prophets:

    This course teaches students on the major prophets, why major prophets, message of prophets, mark of a true prophet.

  • Old testament v-minor prophets:

    This course is designed to increase the student’s understanding on prophecy and more so minor prophets, why minor prophets and their setting and messages.

  •  Pauline epistles 2:

     This course deals with the understanding of Paul’s letters, themes, redemptive agenda in letters, Paul’s admonition.

  • Spiritual warfare 2:

    Designed to be experienced in deeper spiritual battles, gifting of the holly spirit in the battle field.

PROFICIENCY

The Certificate of Theology degree aims to lay a biblical and theological background for persons of ministry. Students grow intellectually and spiritually through the outcomes of content, competence, character and context.
